Popular Wooden Toys
When your baby is in the putting everything in the mouth stage you'll want to clean the toys more often. Just think, the toys lay on the ground most of the time. Would you want to put something in your mouth that sat on the floor for a week? They also get covered in saliva (and even food if baby just ate), fall on the floor get covered in hair and dirt. During play dates, other kids who are carrying germs will be touching the toys as well.
I've seen sites that recommend cleaning your wooden toys (or plastic ones too for that matter) with a 10 part water to 1 part bleach solution. Honestly, I would never do that. You have wooden toys for a reason, to get away from chemicals, why then would you put bleach on them?
Instead of bleach, use 1 part water, to 1 part distilled white vinegar. It is much less dangerous to use vinegar than bleach or any other harsh chemical cleaner. It will do as good a job as any cleaner to disinfect and kill any grems on the toys.
Put it in a spray bottle and just spray a little on a cloth and then wipe down the toys. The vinegar smell goes away completely after it dries and it doesn't leave any residue on the toys.
It seems simple enough, but please don't expose your baby to more chemicals by using bleach or commercial cleaning products. Just use regular vinegar instead.
